SO, I just so happened to stumble upon a few razors that I'm sure will interest everyone here. Let's just say I was incredibly surprised myself and incredibly happy to be sharing this with everyone.

I don't know ANYTHING about the "W&S Horabin Phoenix razor" or the two that have the asian writing and the F+ on the back of the tang. If anyone has any information on these, please share with me! I believe the three mentioned are sheffield blades but not sure.

I am super jealous, you have no idea... I especially love the Wade and Butcher 8/8, the first one you listed. If you ever decide to let it go... let me know. I would be extremely interested in adding it to my collection. ;) All in all, you have some EXCELLENT razors there. Congratulations!
Some guy had been collecting since he was 14, he's moving, wants to downsize. That's all I know about him. Super nice guy, his wife made us coffee while we looked through his stuff. Wonderful experience all around!

Honestly a local guy's wife contacted my buddy who had an ad up somewhere looking for used razors. He got the call and told me 'we're going somewhere tonight'. Neither of us expected to see around 1000 razors. He mentioned hones and stuff but they were put away so I'll be going back at a later date to scope those out.Quote:

Had a similar experience when I was collecting cameras. By that I mean the pleasure of doing business with a nice older couple and the wife served up coffee. Nice and relaxing experience. You can't beat it.Quote:

We both walked away with an INCREDIBLE haul. I never thought I'd see that many
blades in one place, let alone be able to touch them all and have my pick of the litter!
I'm incredibly grateful about what we found, and the experience of meeting that nice couple.
And it wouldn't have been nearly as fun to do by myself, so I'm glad I invited Brooksie to
share it with me.
Besides, if he wasn't there he wouldn't have believed me. And if he did believe me he would
have beaten me uf for not taking him :)
WHAT?!!! That's insane guys! I thought you could only find 8/8 + choppers in places like the Boston States! Who knew?

About your 5&6:

Ive read in a few different places that Hiram Cutler had a registered trademark Capital F below Maltese cross. As far has the asian/ kanji writing on the razor i think its been said a few times over that was some kind of publicity advertizing stunt.

In 1837 Cutler took over the premises and presumably continued the business of Furness, Cutler & Stacey (before them, Weldon & Furniss). It is not known whether this Cutler or John/William Cutler were in the Whitham & Cutler partnership.
1841: Hiram G. Cutler, merchant, steel converter, and saw, edge tool, file, and table, shoe and butcher knife manufacturer.
1862: Hiram and John Edward Cutler, and Charles Chambers, merchants, and manufacturers of steel, files, edge tools, saws, and table and spring knife cutlery.
In 1889 the defunct firm’s trade marks, pattern books, labels and account books (dating from 1780) were advertised for sale in a Sheffield newspaper.
Trade and second quality marks: Weldon; late Cutler, Son and Chambers; capital F below Maltese cross.
I wasnt pursuaded that Hiram Cutler did in fact produce razors but this advertisement from 1851 in a newspaper clearly states that his firm did make razors.

someone from Taiwan may have more luck translating it, although my mother who is professor of chinese studies at Monash University can only work out that the first character is dong as in East and the 3rd character maybe Xing for movement or company or something like that.

I was actually in the Op-shop the other day and I asked if they had any straight razors or antique barbershop related stuff, they didn't unfortunately but an old lady came and talked to me as I was leaving and asked what it is that I collect so I told her and she said that her father was a barber and she probably has a bunch of stuff lying around somewhere and told me to give her my phone number and whenever she stumbles across some things she'll give me a call!
I hope to find some really nice hones and razors and maybe even a vintage strop in nice condition, but we'll see what happens eh

I was speaking with an older gentleman the other week at the old blacksmith shop in the town I work in, (old heritage listed place run by volunteers), and he said I should put an add up somewhere for the same kind of effect. He also said that there is a man who collects razors about half an hour away from me who also has literally hundreds of razors in his collection and that I should go have a look. UNFORTUNATELY he also said that the man in question would not part with any of them, no matter what :(
still tempted to see if I could be persuasive enough for some...
